Dr. Kobeissi has a Ph.D. in Organization Management and an MBA from Rutgers University; Masters of International Management from Baylor University; and a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Economics from the University of Houston.


 Before joining Long Island University, Dr. Kobeissi worked as a consultant at the United Nations Development Programme: Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS; Energy and Atmosphere Programme; United Nations Capital Development Funds - Special Unit for Microfinance; and the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women.

Research :
Dr. Kobeissi's research interests are in the areas of International Management (emerging and transition economies); Entrepreneurship (microenterprise and small business development); and Social Issues in Management (corporate social responsibilities; governance, regulatory and policy issues).

Dr. Kobeissi has published in a number of academic journals such as International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management and Journal of International Comparative Management. She has also co-edited a book titled The UNDP Beijing Express, published by the United Nations Development Programme.
 
Conference presentations:
Dr. Kobeissi has presented papers at various national conferences. She received the Best Paper Award and the Best Paper Proceedings at the Academy of Management and was nominated to the All-Academy Carolyn Dexter Best International Paper Award. Dr. Kobeissi has also presented papers at various international conferences in Italy, Argentina, Netherlands, Lebanon, and Tunisia.
