Dr. Celik Parkan is Kaufman Professor for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University (LIU) in New York. He received his M.S and Ph.D. degrees in management science from the Wharton School and University of British Columbia, Canada, respectively. Dr. Parkan was an operations research analyst at British Coal, London, and held tenured full professor positions at the University of Calgary, Canada and City University of Hong Kong. Over the years his research involved the theories of consumption and production, analysis of service systems, simulation modeling, location logistics and analysis, decision analysis, and productivity and performance measurement. He has published more than fifty peer-reviewed papers and made presentations at numerous academic conferences. Dr. Parkan's current research and teaching interests are on operational issues with particular emphasis on the measurement and analysis of the performance of operating systems. He is director of the Center for Supply Chain Leadership at C.W. Post.

Conference presentations:
Recently Dr. Parkan presented two papers at the Western Decision Sciences meeting in Hawaii in April 2006 (one of the papers was co-authored with Dr. Jiamin Wang) and a paper co-authored with Dr. Wang at the International Logistics Seminar in Lyon in May 2006.
 
Professional services and membership:
Dr. Parkan serves as the chair of the Scholarly Activities and Service Committee. He also chaired the Faculty Awards and Recognition Committee in 2005-6.
