ABOUT DR. COMUNALE

 

Dr. Christie L. Comunale joined Long Island University – C.W. Post Campus in the fall of 1999 after completion of her Ph.D. at the University of South Florida. She received her B.S. and MBA from Loyola College in Maryland. Dr. Comunale is a licensed CPA in Maryland and worked as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Teaching: Dr. Comunale teaches Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, External Reporting I and II, and Corporate Financial Reporting. In 2005, Dr. Comunale received the David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching, the University’s highest honor for teaching. In 2004, she received the Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year Award.

 

Research: Dr. Comunale is an award-winning researcher in the areas of audit judgment and decision making and the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process. She has presented her research at numerous American Accounting Association meetings and has published in Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research, Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting,  The CPA Journal, Internal Auditing, Managerial Auditing Journal, Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery, The Database for Advances in Information Systems, and Journal of Educational Technology Systems.

 

Service: Since 1999, Dr. Comunale has served as advisor to Long Island University – C.W. Post Campus’s Accounting Society and Beta Alpha Psi Chapter – Kappa Omicron. For four consecutive years, Long Island University’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter has received Superior Status, the highest ranking of a Chapter. In 2004, Dr. Comunale received the College of Management Recognition Award for Excellence in Service. She serves on the Executive Board of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants – Suffolk Chapter and is Chair of its Young CPAs Committee.
