"Through the medium of quilting, pre-service elementary education
students explore about the concepts necessary for teaching elementary
school mathematics. These quilts were designed and pieced by students
in Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers at Simpson College. Each
quilt block was designed as either an illustration of a specific
mathematical concept or as an image that could be used in an exercise
over a specific concept, and was part of a larger project which included
exploration and writing. The quilts were true collaborative efforts of
the Simpson community and are on display in the Carver Science Hall on
the Simpson Campus."
