Using the applet to generate the inflorescences:
A recursive function is used to generate up to 10 stages of each of 10 common inflorescence diagrams found in C.L. Porter's book Taxonomy of Flowering Plants. (I am a mathematician and not a botanist, so I make no claim as to the scientific accuracy of these diagrams - they are purely from my imagination!)
Choose one of the 10 inflorescences by clicking on your choice in the first drop-down box. A description of that inflorescence will be displayed in the box on the left-hand side. Then choose a number between 0 and 10 from the second drop-down box to see the effect of compounding that inflorescence that number of times.
